the best years of my life were not moments in life

the best years of my life, so far, have all been in my 40's

though many of the best moments were long ago

how can we compare anything, really, to that first kiss? a first crush? a first love? a first big success? it's hard to.

but then again...how can we compare the excitement and angst and pain of our early life with the peace and well being of our 40's?

which is funny, because sometimes you'll be in the best year of your life thinking back to one of the best moments of your life
